We've now been open for a week since our break at Christmas, there is something to be said for normality, at least we know what day it is now.
It was good to have so many favourable reports on the turkeys that people had at Christmas, if I say so myself they were goooood!
The shop has been steady with lots of regulars coming in for coffees, teas and lunches and of course chat. I am trying to have a gluten free choice of cake now in the shop as we get more and more people wanting wheat free. Vegetarian savouries are usually available, as long as the meat eaters haven't had them first. We will continue to close at 4.30pm for the month of January but will return to 5.00pm closing in February. The evenings are already drawing out, giving us a little more daylight.
The Oasis coffee shop returns tomorrow after our Christmas break with turkey stew on the menu,11.00am - 2.00pm.
We have a lovely assortment of winter veg, carrots, parsnips, beetroot, leeks, turnips, several varieties of kale, savoys, brussells, radishes, salad leaves, rocket, potatoes and the purple sprouting is just beginning to sprout, plenty of everything as well. Our lunches use all our own produce as much as possible.
Pork will be the next fresh meat available, then hopefully lamb, then beef. If you think you may like some, call the shop.
