Almost 3 months since the last blog, my how time flies. In the last instalment the extension had just begun, it is now almost finished and is waiting to be kitted out. We're really pleased with it and can't wait to move in properly although I think that maybe still a while off. We did use the kitchen to be as our dining room at Christmas, but is now out of bounds again until in proper use. We had a very busy Christmas period with not much time off.
When I last spoke we weren't sure if lily was in pig or not, well she was, we now have 8 baby piglets. Sally is not, but she is going to meet a new man this week!! Yet another consignment of pigs start going to the abbatoir tomorrow, a total of 11 will be going in the freezer by the end of all of them going, so if you like pork, come and get some of ours, it's so gooooood!
The sheep will be coming into the maternity ward at the end of this week, we will soon have baby Russells.
The next bullock Marty will be leaving us this week destined for the freezer next month. Lots of yummy beef as well as pork. Our TB test is due now shortly, always a tentative time for us.
The weather really has been exceedingly wet this winter and made life extremely muddy and difficult to negotiate anything in the fields. Our hedging has not started yet, hopefully if it dries up a little this week as promised we may be able to do some during March. We need to as this is our winter log supply for the coming year as well as a job that needs doing.
Vegetable seed sowing has not started as yet, I need to pull my finger out. I need to see some sunshine to enthuse me.
Come and visit us in the shop for coffee, lunch or afternoon tea. At the moment our opening times are 10 til 4.30. Lunch booking is advisable as we do seem to be becoming busier at lunchtimes. Wednesday's we serve 2-courses and a mug of tea/coffee for £10.00.
